There are several reasons for women to have large breasts such as genetic factors, hormonal changes, weight changes, breastfeeding, etc. Women with large breasts generally experience severe health issues that may affect their lifestyles such as constant or occasional pain in the back, neck and shoulders, bad posture, sagging, fungal infection or skin rubbing under breasts and even numbness in the arms due to bra straps that dig in.

Anyone over 18, experiencing problems that affect their lifestyles such as constant or occasional pain in the back, neck and shoulders, bad posture, sagging, fungal infection or skin rubbing under breasts, numbness in the arms due to bra straps that dig in or low self-confidence because of their large breasts is a good candidate for breast reduction surgery. The patient is given general anaesthesia for the procedure. The breast surgeon makes an incision in the determined area and then removes the excess breast skin and tissue. Nipples are relocated and this resolves the saggy look. The breast skin and glands are lifted and reshaped to a smaller size separately. After this process, drains may be placed into necessary regions to take out oedema and the incisions are closed with aesthetic absorbable stitches hidden in the bikini line.

A small amount of tingling for the first days, bruising around the incisions and swelling or oedema for a few weeks is normal. In the 1st month, your breasts may feel tense and you may also have oedema in your breasts, this is totally normal. They will gradually start to feel softer and oedema will subside. In between 3-6 months, your breast tissue will become like your natural breast tissue and you will feel much better. Your scars will be pink at least for the first 3 months and then fade from pink to your skin colour. Please remember that this takes between 1-2 years.
