LASIK eye surgery is performed to correct common eye problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism by reshaping the cornea permanently using either a mechanical microkeratome, a surgical instrument with blades, or a femtosecond laser, both of which enable you the opportunity of less dependency on contacts and/or glasses.

Some people have optical errors called “aberrations” as well as other refractive errors such as hyperopia, myopia or astigmatism. These aberrations specifically affect one’s night vision and visual acuity.  The wavefront method is the technique used to measure these high-order aberrations in the cornea by sending a light beam to the eye so that the visual problems can be corrected in a customized way.

The eyes are covered with a sterile cloth and then anaesthetized with eye drops. The eyelids are separated with special equipment called blepharostat so that the patient can not blink during the operation. Thanks to the fast eye-tracker system on the devices, even if you insensibly move your eyes, this will not affect the surgery at all. A flap in the cornea is cut via Femtosecond laser. The cornea tissue under this flap is reshaped. Then the flap is folded back in its position.
